Kenneth Murray
Head of Investments

Kenneth Murray is the founder and Chairman of Blue Planet Investment Management Ltd and Blue Planet Investment Advisers Ltd.  He is a Director of Blue Planet Worldwide Financials Investment Trust plc and Labrador Coast Limited (formerly Blue Planet Investments Limited). He was a Director for Blue Planet International Financials Investment Trust plc and Blue Planet Financials Growth & Income Investment Trusts Nos 1-10 plc all of which he launched on the London Stock Exchange.  In addition, he previously held a Directorship for Blue Planet Global Opportunities Fund.
 
In 1990, he founded The Bank of Edinburgh Group plc and the Bank of Edinburgh plc and was Managing Director of both companies until their sale in 1994.  Shortly after its formation The Bank of Edinburgh Group acquired Goode Durrant Bank plc and in 1992 it agreed to acquire the Heart of England Building Society, which had assets of approximately £1 billion. 
 
Prior to establishing The Bank of Edinburgh Group plc he was a Director of Fulton Prebon International Limited, one of the world's largest money brokers which had operations in London, New York, San Francisco, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, Bahrain, Luxembourg and many other financial markets.
 
He commenced his career in the City of London as an Investment Analyst and was Senior Merchant Banking and Financial Sector Analyst at Greenwell Montagu Securities Limited. He held similar posts at Sheppards and Chase Stockbrokers Limited and Wood Mackenzie & Co Limited.  He is a graduate of the University of Stirling and has a BSc with Honours in Economics and Computer Science.

John Graham-Brown, BComm, FCA
Director

John Graham-Brown joined Blue Planet in March 2002 as Finance Director having retired as an audit partner in Pricewaterhouse Coopers after 32 years service in London, Aberdeen and Edinburgh. In the latter part of his career in Edinburgh he specialised in financial services being responsible for a large portfolio of investment funds. He is a graduate of Leeds University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.  He now works for the company in a non-executive role.








 


Zahid Mehmood, BA, MBA, ACMA
Financial Controller & Compliance Officer
 
Zahid Mehmood joined Blue Planet in 2007 as Financial Controller. He completed his degree in Mathematics, Statistics and Economics in 1997 and later earned an MBA with specialisation in Management Information Systems (MIS), with a CGPA of 3.69, in 1999. Zahid began studying for his CIMA qualification in August 2000, which he completed in February 2003, becoming an ACMA in June 2006.
 
In 2002 he briefly worked for an accountancy firm in London as a Trainee Accountant before joining Nottinghamshire County Council in 2003 as Finance Assistant and shortly thereafter Assistant Accountant. Zahid’s extensive experience ranges from special projects for the Group Finance Manager to preparing Financial Revenue Accounts for all contracting businesses within the council.

Sophie Higenyi Company Secretarial and Compliance Officer

Company Secretarial, MLRO & Trainee Compliance Officer
 
Sophie Higenyi joined Blue Planet at the end of 2010 as Company Secretarial and Compliance Officer, having previously worked for the Health Analytical Services Division of the Scottish Government.  She awarded an MA degree in Business and Management in 2007 from Aberdeen University and subsequently obtained a LL.B degree in law at the University of Edinburgh.

Sophie is an affliliate member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and a member of the Scottish Compliance Officers Forum. She is also currently studying for the Diploma in Investment Compliance awarded by the UK Securities and Investment Institute.
